On the brink of a starting a 2nd club when...

I realised I still have so much to learn here.

Was really tempted by the MFN74 as I'd always fancied the idea of setting up a brand new club, however having spent some time on my MFN65 club, I remembered how much in the Gameplanning section I'm still unsure of! :O

The main area which I'm totally useless in (due to lack of RL NFL knowledge) is setting the Defense. Not so much the defense plays I guess, as I've been using the Avg per call and Familiarty data, but more the deciding which of the DB and LB percentages to go for in each quadrant etc. You'd think common sense would prevail but having only seen 1 month of NFL I have none here!! Can't even think what sort of LB/DB plays would be most appropriate near my own goal line! :O

Some are very confusing cos they say 2Deep Man - I've been trying to study the diagrams and useful assignements sheets, but it shows 2 men going deep and the rest playing Man? But how on earth do I know whether that's good for my team?!

Likewise some of the formations suddenly have 4 CB's appearing when it only said 2 deep zone (?) - if someone could point out a starting point that would be great: ie: think about...OR start by deciding which...OR have a look at your...

I'm loving this game (spending more time on it than my 3 year-old hobby on a English football one!) but really need to understand the defense game more now I think.

Thanks to those who often reply - much appreciated :)

you should join 74, we need involved and passionate coaches in the new league! :)

Thanks mate - think by passionate you mean in my case: useless! ;)
How should I choose a new club as there's little to go on?
Coaching staff and their mindsets?
Place in draft?
Anything else different?

i usually choose by draft selection but with so many good players you can be anywhere and get good players. If there's a style you really like on offense then look for a coach with that style cause i found out you can't poach a coach til season 2. You could also look at divisions or leagues and if there's coaches you would like to battle or play against you could use that as a deciding factor. Building your team from scratch is so much more fun that taking over one already made imo.

Too much to explain....Your best bet is youtube: 2 deep zone and anything else football related. Then post any questions you have from there.

Coaching style:
West coast is defined on Google as pass heavy
So what's pass heavy (?) Coach then aren't they the same? !

west coast is short passing game with play action. It's dink and dunk high proficiency offense that utilizes passing to rb's, fb's and te's. Pass Heavy is a pass oriented offense that gives you more passing plays to choose from in your playbook. If you like to air it out "run and shoot" style then use pass heavy. If you like to implement shorter passing and run after catch choose west coast. Balanced offense is a medium ground. You will find that there are overlapping plays between all the offenses but you will get more variety of the the plays based on the overall style. Pick a style and draft your team to based off of it. if you have any questions just pm me

Pass Heavy and West Coast are 2 different offenses to be honest but I can understand why google defined them as the same...Pass Heavy just means that your playbook will have a lot more passing plays than running plays (You could have a Run Heavy offense). While West Coast offense is all about short/quick passing plays where every available player runs a route. I hope this helps!!

The best Slots in a Serpentine Draft in a 32 Team League are always the 15th and 16th Picks.

They will keep a steady gap the entire Draft, where as the #1 Overall has to wait for Pick #64... that's 62 Players off the board before he picks again. So he got what he feels is the Best Player in the Draft, but the Next 10 behind him were likely rated just as highly, and now he's missed out on a TON of Talent.

#32 is in a similar bind, having no direction or choice and being left with the 'left-overs'. Of course, he gets to have 2 Picks in a Row now with the 33rd Pick as well, so he can try to Synergize them. #1 Overall does the same, but in later Rounds (his would be End 2nd/Start 3rd), so less impact/value.

Yep, you want to be very close to the middle to miss those huge swings where big runs on a Position can happen and you are left with nothing.
