God be with the days when I walked up & down the hallway as a young male waiting for the postman (mailman) to arrive with mail to find out if my American Football team had won ! It was before the days of the internet, and you mailed off (almost via mule lol) instructions on what you wanted to do with your team that game. The game deadline was 2 weeks in most cases for orders (10 working days).
That was back in the early 80's to early 90's. When the '90's came about the game master put in decent time to get an online submission of instructions...thus eliminating have the postman (mailman) be run from my yard by Trigger, my dog (RIP). We, the community, then received the results via email and a very nice chap developed 3rd party software to have these emails read in line by line.
It got to the stage where I found myself (after some time of playing), in "LIVE READS" with other mind-liked coaches from around the globe from Ireland to Australia and even Japan. We had some giggles back then, and the game is very much still alive, but is just dying with the way things have taken off with consoles & PC's/Laptop...Madden...etc.
In essence, they lost their customer base by not growing with the times. The game does still exist, but only stubborn hardcore fans remain.
So, can you imagine my first thought of this game when I first joined ? In modern day gaming it might like going from the postman to Assassins Creed overnight LOL
I'm ranting, and I apologize...my point, in short, is that....it is my belief that leagues should be looked after in most respects. I have never liked the idea that if league falls below a %age then it folds it the League Admin is still active...that should be under his control (or it might be?) I also have a pet peeve about themed leagues that have absolutely nothing to do with American Football....that is just ridiculous imho.
Just meandering thoughts...some of years goneby and some of opinions.
