I think there is a bug of sorts. Whether it be just a visual error or its actually complicating the algorithm to make even more of a poor AI/human choices.
For now to keep it simple my team home page says 4.5 million in cap room but when I go to sign players it says 2.5 mill. Why?
I ask because the tools available are not the info I used to clean up the Indians in the same league with one spin.
Yes, the AI works as gdads explained and I kinda cleaned my team that way. They were burdened with a blend of poor draft contracts and heavy bonus laden contracts buy users and or the AI through rectructures or going after FAs.
This had me looking at the bonuses too! One guy was 2.8 on the cap, 1.6 for this year's dead cap and 3.2 on next.
According to my tools we were -12 for the cap with a dead money penalty of zero. On the team page After one spin we had +4.5 cap and 10 mil. for the dead money this year and we're on the hook for 15 mil. Next season due to these moves. IMO these are the important numbers to use.
Thus coming to my conclusion that the available money should show the same on the team page as well on the player card when you click on contract and have zero in a all the relevant settings.
The tools on the team page say you will save this much but no where is anything accounting or talking up number for final cap (or accurate available money ) or the dead money or the future dead cap until Sim has spun.
Seeing those numbers before hand would make navigation of choices easier, and at least an explanation of why or which number is right for available money. Is the one on the team home page accurate or when you click on contract on the player card ? .
Still, I wonder if the algorithm is using different available money number in any of its calculations ?
Cause really your buying time by moving money around till you have more available cap. The dead cap is crucial to my teams success now. We keep a bunch of higher paid players, but they are pretty good.
Eating dead cap for next season allows for movement of picks to open up more cap room if I want to hold on to to the two solid DTs and Gs that were aquire through FA a few years back. A decent QB will be up for a restructuring soon as well. All of which we will need money for if drafts are weak.
What would the AI have done I am not sure, and I may not understand the correct use of the tools available , but some things seem off here. Not just the AI choices as gdads methods would be better because the AI won't trade away the same guy they would cut.
