One of the things I like and get fustrated with is a player with all the attributes in the world but just doesn't get it done. I've seen a few. No sense in hoping they turn it around. I write them off, as craptastic as that is, sometimes it's for the best. Usually at the QB spot but it happens.

Yeah I've had this with RBs, 100's in nearly everything but just couldn't get it done when players rated in the 50s and 60s were, no rhyme nor reason to it

Yeah, use a very similar strategy in terms of trying different plays. Finding it more difficult to complete passes and getting destroyed defensively because of it. Maybe I need to give up hope on zone defense completely and do what every other owner does to win, and run only blitzes and man defense and run only plays with high averages on offense.

But what's the fun in running a limited playbook that doesn't reflect how you would prefer to play? What's the fun in 'blending in with the crowd' and giving up how I would actually play the game as if I were a true GM of a team?

I don't think I'll leave this game in the near future anytime soon, but just constantly frustrated by how games are won and lost in ways that make completely no sense and how much games are relied on by pure luck. And apparently, I'm about all out of luck.

I see what you're saying, but the fact is that the zone plays don't work. They will probably work better at a later date, but you can't rely on them right now. I don't use a 'limited playbook', I use as many plays as other guys, I just don't use zone plays.

I also don't use outside runs much, because only one or two of them work and I don't want to overuse those plays or put in a bunch of plays that don't work. Same with long passes, there aren't enough that work for me to justify using them a lot. I just use more of the other type of plays to make up for it...

I get what you're saying about not wanting to be like everyone else, but there are ways to be an individual and ethical and still win. You don't have to use plays that don't work...

I think everyone is over thinking it.m The top defensive teams are loaded with speed. It's quite simple. Krazy s team is not. The schemes matter a bit but not to the level of garnering higher static ratings, especially speed. My fastest teams still get sideline sacks. Just as under the old code .

Speaking of speed, my receivers are useless when it comes to open field catches. I still have no clue why my #1 receiver is total **** WR John Richins only 500 yards in 9 games.. seen him drop multiple wide open passes and unable to catch anything 1 on 1 while mediocre receivers catch against my defenders in double, triple coverage.

Look at his receiving completion percentage, shouldn't he be one of the most productive players in the league? Oh wait, apparently attributes are completely useless on my teams

In the case of having speed and blitzes and slight play abuse . ....yes attributes become useless . Generic ties to whether a defender will pick it or knock it down distort final numbers. Pressure circle being invaded, stuff like that kills qb play(Galvan has 91 accuracy . ...not 99) Shelton in mfn 1 has 88 and he's about as mobile and dumber, under pressure he looks like a 50 accuracy qb somtimes.

Looking at the game vs kardex. He blitzes alot and has fast defenders with little technical ratings but enough . Also, look at Galvan this season 33 sacks , but only 23 charged to oline. That's his fault, or a result from a blitzes.

And finally one pass play that characterizes this games play in general . Probably everything that is wrong with. It was about the 3rd or 4th time you ran this play ( so you were secretly getting a penalty ), the CB is fast but only has 67 man, Galvan gets blitz ed rolls the wrong way throws off his back foot (a late under thrown ball across the feild) and the LB covering the the flat and he picks it off.

Speed and techniques are gone cause it's a busted play by then. Galvan pressure circle was invaded with an invisible abuse penalty applied . It's the speed of the defense that benefits from this strategy of creating pressure through blitzes . Galvan turned in to a highschool qb...that quick.

A Flag pattern should be run to the flag not what ever Richins did on that play and Galvan should have stepped up and over thrown that ball or just as easily dumped it with a quick pass to

No joke though, you called alot of the same passes and you results were poor . All of Richins catches in the first half (cause that is all I looked...... were on the first time you called the play )

It is almost that Richins is just a decoy. Move him around ...more 5 and slants from the slot (on blitzes ) or just isolate him deep on fly patterns . There is around chess game going on here...it is just not very intuitive . Him as a back on those blitzes would be killer. Or as a streaking TE up the middle on pass only downs.

But as a WR some double coverages with some blitzes (without a QB without 99 accuracy or 99 intelligence ) I see these 40 percent catch rates more often than not on these intermediate patterns. Why not go deep. In the end it's like the old code. Just a smaller window with a few different ways out.

That was the ugliest flag pattern I have ever seen ....it was more like a 10 and dance .

My suggestion is to study other teams. I consider myself an offensive guru. Most owners will tell you my offensive can be pretty potent. Bryson10 is another owner with great offense. But I always have been average of defense at best.

I treat this game rather seriously. I studied game film on some of the top defenses ive played against. Watch film from their entire season. Studied their personnel, tendencies, and even tried to figure out what rules they might have in place. I pieced those together to create my own system and I'm starting to improve on defense even though I havent been at it long enough yet to have the personnel I need in place.

The point is study teams that do it well learn and then make it your own. That's what coaching is all about in football anyway. Learn, create, adapt.

Or have 90 plus rated offensive lineman to take advantage of a strong code for blockers . The small pass rushers were nerfed under this code. It was a different story under the old code. You could run a team of dbs on dline and RB/ FB on oline and still win . It has swung completely the other way so far so it is out of whack (only a bit) . That's is why kick returns are off the charts and the only way to stop the run is blitz .

Last year the top sack leaders were not over 260 pounds. All were edge rushers. In league 75 , the top sackers are 276 pounds ......or mlbs who blitz up the middle. It's a different game. The ability of OTs to hold off speed rushers is broke. Favoring blockers and devaluing where actual nfl pressure comes from and what would actually stop anow nfl offense .

Those edge rushers are the key to creating disruption in the passing lanes and pressuring qbs. Here if you put a small edge rushing end vs a tackle you might get a few hurries . This imo was the worst change under the new code. It has really killed any realistic defensive approach .

The value of weight for the players would have been enough but to change the speed vs speed calculations was just too much. 3rd and long is that 3rd and forever to get too the qb.....unless your end is 276 pounds.

In one of my league's my 5 starting O-Linemen have a 65.6 average rating and I am averaging 409 offensive yards a game while on a 8 game winning streak. But of course everyone shouldn't copy the NFL, which puts huge men on the line, and instead put small guys on the line like Madden. What was I thinking.

Height: 6042
Weight: 299
40 Yrd Dash: 5.09
20 Yrd Dash: 2.94
10 Yrd Dash: 1.77 225 Lb. Bench Reps: 28
Vertical Jump: 25 1/2
Broad Jump: 08'05"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.74
3-Cone Drill: 7.70

That's the top pass blocking tackle in the NFL' combine scores . ...28 bench?.?.?.?

Something has to change with line play here. He's a technically sound with above average athletic ability .

Right now, in the mfn world, across the board it is top ratings that wins....pretty simple . Combine that with a game plan that omits problem plays but has enough of others so you dont get hit with too many over use penalties and you have a good chance of winning. Override to create size/ speed mismatches and sprinkle in some rules for 4th and really short . ...wala!

Still, where the screens or the separation of jumping and big hit/ concentration catches. Imo.....we got a lonnnng way to go, but step by step the game gets closer. Still, the edge rusher getting nerfed was the wrong way to go

Standing at 6"2 and 303#, DT Warren Sapp, being able to run a 4.63 second 40 yard dash, brought fear to opposing QBs coming from the their RIGHT, not Blind, side. In his 12 year HOF career he recorded 96.5 sacks, 435 tackles, and 19 FF while only going to 7 Pro-Bowls and being named by his peers 4x the best at what he does. But of course he would not fit into Ray's team.

I do the same, but it doesn't change any of my points. Generally what I said is the rule, but of course there are exceptions . There got to be a winner an loser. It is not very intuitive how to get there. I won a lot of games with all AI gamemplans. Heck the only championship I ever won was without logging in, but it doesn't change other short comings of the game or make the AI good or ever would I recommend never logging in and expect a title.
