I'm really sad about this. I understand the reasoning, but you will be missed. I hope your miss it and come back, even in a limited way. You're an asset to all of us, from the newbies right up to JDB. This game is better because of your contributions. I've enjoyed competing with you!
well i truly believe that JDB would have to make the game more stagnant to Setherick liken then i think he would come back.
will have to say that or should say i think it is JDB move or the basketball is in his court now and really i would think somewhat what he does from this point on will decide if Setherick comes back or if others will do what Setherick did and leave in droves .
Just a quick note. I don't think punisher is really putting blame on JDB here, but let me clear something up. In no way is my leaving a result of the quality of MFN in its current state. The game is playable and replayable for probably 90% of all team owners. Even with all of its problems, 0.4.1 fixed a number of the code problems with the game.
The problem for me is I exist in that 10% group where core logical problems with a game grate on me. (This could be one of the reasons why I'm so good at my IRL job.) I tend to trace these logical problems to a conclusion, and then decide if a game is worth playing despite them. Until recently, I found enough in MFN to keep my interest.
Now, that said, should JDB drop everything that he's doing and fix these core problems for the 10% of players like myself? No.
Software development lifecycles are a careful balance in priorities. And taking on a massive rewrite of core algorithms isn't worth JDB's time nor effort right now. There are a number of smaller fixes that should be made sooner that don't require a full rewrite of algorithms. Similarly, there are a number of smaller enhancements that could be made that would make the game more interesting for the vast majority of users. For instance, would you rather see hidden draft attributes development or have JDB do nothing but rewrite algorithms? No, didn't think so. I wouldn't want to see him waste his time either.
For what it's worth, this football sim held my interest longer than others. :)
