End of Season Re-signing Clarification

OK, so I'm heading into the offseason, while the playoffs continue without me.
When I try to resign my pending free agents, my salary cap goes into the negative. My understanding is, if I'm negative at the sim, the computer will cut players to get me under the cap.
BUT...
Since the season is over, cutting players doesn't save any cap room. Every player shows $0 saved if cut.
Is the computer going to cut the entire team? Am I stuck with letting all my players in their last year leave?

If you don't have the cap room to re-sign them, then you are probably going to have to let them walk.

I'll have to check what happens when you are over the salary cap at the end of the season. Kind of surprised it hasn't come up before, or maybe it has and there's an elegant solution that I've forgotten I added ... but you probably should proceed with the expectation that it will get into an infinite loop if you are over the cap, just to be safe.

Good question.

I can't believe this hasn't come up before.

I'm interested to hear the outcome.

It has come up before. You have to resign your players right before the end of season SIM.

I meant the question about what happens if you are over the cap, but releasing someone doesn't lower your cap because they have no salary left this season.

What does the Ai do?

If you go over the cap during the end of season roll over it doesn't do anything.

What if you are already over the cap before the End of Season stage?

Normally the Ai will cut players for you at the sim to get below the cap, but in this case does it even try?

Good question. I would speculate that the AI would adjust the net increase/decrease by your contract moves, if it nets a equal or below max cap you're good. If you're still over rit will cut your top cap players. This is for the seaso ending stage.

That I have not tested, I'm too afraid to let the AI make that decision for me.
