Finally had some time. So I went back, got the stats of the QBs I faced and got the total.
Very different story. However, I can explain the difference in what is recorded earlier as 'Thrown At' stats... the actual numbers would also include 'Wide Open' guys where no defender is 'thrown at'.
QBs Completed 383 of 642 Attempts (59.66%) for 5398 Yards (337.375 a Game) and 38 TD to 18 INT (2.11:1 TD:INT Ratio). This grants 8.4 YPA and 14.09 YPC.
Which... is pretty darn good for them. They'd like to see a slightly higher Completion percentage, but that's not to shabby! You'd be happy if your QB threw for those numbers, while maybe wanting a tad more % and Ratio. This is just a bit under 'Torching the D' numbers.
Which means that WHEN I have Coverage... I'm doing GREAT! But man, I sure don't cover the open guy OFTEN.
I'll Edit this Post once I tabulate the numbers from the Defensive Side, but this is suggesting my D isn't holding up as well as it looked overall vs. the Pass. (But again, it's very Talent Deficient... so some Skill could change things.)
Okay, some the Stats say I was Thrown At 987 Times for 335 Catches Allowed, at a 34.95% Rate... which is OUTSTANDING. The problem is... I only faced 642 Attempts.
Which means 2 Things are happening here.
On SOME Plays more than 1 Defender is being Targeted. This makes since. Guy could be Doubled. Could have Combo Coverage where he's got a Man on him while heading into a Zone with some one else. So there is a logical reason for this.
On OTHER Plays... no one is Targeted, because the guy is wide open with no one close enough to 'count'.
So what does all this tell us about my Defensive Concept? That WHEN I'm on the guy, I have Multiple Defenders on him, and they often stop the play. ALSO a lot of times I leave guys wide open and give up easy plays.
We'll have to see how Adding Talent changes things, along with Play Knowledge. Will take time obviously, a Season here and a Season there of going back through the new Data. Remember, I was impressed at the TA/CA Rate BECAUSE my guys ****, and should be bleeding Passing Yards... which is why all this number chasing started in the first place. To see if this concept could 'mask' a severe lack of Talent in the Secondary, and to see if this Concept can work as a Base Defense.
