I am sure this has been suggested previously but seriously can we not have a rework of how the AI manages teams.
There are many leagues that really need new team owners but when you look through the available teams and see a horrendous roster, team deep in cap troubles and awful FA signings which translates to a long term commitment to turn a team around it is discouraging to say the least. something really really needs to be looked at to encourage players to join leagues and to take on open teams that are often projects that relate to many months of real life management to turn teams around
-please stop the long term contracts to aged out veterans and ridiculous FA contracts, also to aged veterans on the decline. This saddles teams with not just current season but many future seasons of terrible cap management. Yes there is some initial cap relief available from League Admin but the AI can destroy teams very quickly and leave a roster of old near useless players with multiple season contracts. If the AI cant manage decent FA contracts maybe there should be a league admin option to allow/disallow AI controlled teams to give out contracts. It is a lot easier to complete rosters with some minimum contracts that could later be cut when a new owner takes over with much less impact to the team
-adjust the default weights. I believe that this compounds many of the poor FA signings as well as poor draft choices
-Stop the cuts of top players from teams. The AI will make some brutal decisions for short term cap management. While it can allow some juicy FA's for the active owners to play the FA Frenzy it isn't helpful the way it currently is managed. While these cuts do offer top players to Free Agency it allows better managed teams with savy owners to pick up top players, studs in some cases and further widening the gap between the managed teams and AI teams that you hope will be taken over by an active agent. Maybe the league admin should have an option to freeze Rosters or be able to approve some of the choices.
I am sure a list could be compiled of key issues and even a few changes will improve the AI team management and further the pursuit of real team ownership.
