well I have thought at times the ability to change a players rating in a certain area and move it into another area which I think would TIE into your #2 idea
to illustrate point here is this player =
https://mfn13.myfootballnow.com/player/4288he has 31 KICK STRENGTH and 22 KICK ACCURACY so if lets say the computer decided my kicker shouldn't be playing for whatever reason this player would most likely be the Kicker or doing the kicking duties so why not instead let allow me to move those 53 points to like Tackle Ability so that way I wouldn't have a player who isn't a Kicker kick for me??
That way this problem that people always have happening (
