Could I suggest the home screen is filled with a few more things (not much more though as those bits are relevant). I don't think the league table is needed on the initial home screen; whereas the right hand bits are needed.
I think a 'Next Match preview' box could be created - maybe comparing ovr avg ratings of the two teams off/def/specials. Or maybe key players for each team. Maybe links on that to the Gameplanning tactics specifically for that match.
Also I find a 'latest posts' really useful in other games like PitchSideManager. It shows the latest 5-10 posts, so you can quickly see when logging on, what's new and not having to search around - this would make the forums even busier, and keep more managers even more engaged and make the game even more social (something which keeps managers hooked IMO).
Finally, when I click on the menu bar there is League Forum and Community Forum; both links seem to take me to the same page. Why not, just have a Forums button which takes you to the forums; from there you can choose whether it's a league specific thing or not.
And finally (really), when you arrive at the main forum page, maybe the latest post/thread should be visible under each sub-heading - so you know whether there's something worthwhile clicking on in that folder.
I like the green light idea - unfortunately, they're nearly all always green for me, as I only log in once or twice per day.
