Somewhere someone, Setherick I think, explains the math behind how the sliders work. I can't find it otherwise I would link it so you could read it. But, basically the slider number from 0 to 100 means how much that skill "weights" into determining the CUR/FUT value for a player.

Everyone has their own weights so we all see players with different rating values unlike Madden where everyone would see the same ratings for players. So the lower the slider number is, the less that skill rating matters towards determining your overall rating value for a player and vice versa with higher numbers. Generally, for the skills you feel are most important you want to rate them much higher than other skills that you don't feel are as important.

I have posted a set of weights on the forums that I think pretty decent for basic player evaluation if you are new and looking for a set of weights to use.

One way to look at it, is whatever number is selected, add up all the numbers together, divide one by the total and that is the weighted % of that skill.

For example say your total was 100. 45 speed, 10 on 5 skills and 5 on another skill. Speed would be worth 45% of the overall that is calculated.

To give you an easier understanding of how overall is calculated. Say you only put 100 on speed and nothing else. If your player was 91 speed, he would be 91 overall.

I believe this is what you are referring to:

nkku you can read through all of this but it changes over time. The end might be more relevant than anything, maybe the last 4-5 pages.

This is also a very helpful post regarding weights from ArmoredGiraffe:

EDIT: I just saw that AG was one of the commenters above. I will just say that this post he made was a very helpful jumping off point for me to start refining my personal weights.

I remember reading his post talking about primary, secondary, tertiary, etc. numbers when making his weights and there was math explaining how he got those numbers and a breakdown for what those values should be depending on the number of each. I looked through that post a bit but could not find it. Maybe it is in there or maybe it got deleted when a league shut down. Very frustrating aspect of the forums is losing all the posts in leagues when they close
