...folks "could" say:
Hey, Ive got these talents, and here are my cred and some references, and I want to work FOR FREE.
How can I help?"

OR:

"This needs fixing, youve stated you use this and that formats, and i know them like water.
LEt me vamp up something for your review that "could" be a fix.
FOR FREE."

Nah, not many have those talents.
If you do, and you would like to really make a difference here...
Step. Up.

If there is no solution, it is not a conversation. It is only a complaint.

I've got 23 years in MMO's, helped create virtual commodities in 1998, and created the "play for pay" system in the fall of 2009 in the face of WOW, frankly, lmao..
These days we call them tokens, and companies lazily use daily log in bonuses for yet more tokens. Sadly removing the player retention concept in it's entirety as a result.
No one works for guaranteed money.
BTW, still happy to help in the marketing area :)
I have so, so many ideas to re-create player retention through the already acceptable "false losses" of providing tokens....
Seriously, I've funneled this based on what Ive gathered to be MFN's most desirable customer.
#COVIDfreetime lmao
I'll just keep offering. :)

Give JDB some slack, and much more credit.
Be patient. Do what YOU can do to correct the problem.

Players creating too many leagues is not his problem - it's yours.

I've been in MFN since 2013 and was saddened by a league I've been in for 26 seasons (since the inception of the league) ending. 7 years hardly equates to "abandoning" as you so inaccurately stated. You stating I should stay in a league instead of abandoning it is absolutely asinine.

Lack of participants kill games, not threads; I stand by my statement that this game is moving in the wrong direction. I have played MFN for SEVEN YEARS so don't talk BS to me about commitment or lack thereof. I want it to succeed and hope something can be done to turn this game around and have it thrive.

EDIT: MFN-2, the game's flagship league currently has 9 openings, that is a red flag if ever there was one.

too many Leagues with a "If you build it, they will come mantra". For a League to thrive, rather than survive. Someone has to actively seek players for said League.

For those who want a 'solution'. How about this?

When a player currently signs up he is not allowed to trade for 30 days.

Lets take that one step further.

The existing MFN sanctioned Leagues sanction only new members to join. Existing owners can remain with a team forever if they wish.

A new member can have a maximum of 3 teams until they hit the 30 day notice.

After 30 days, any new member has a much better understanding of the game and is better prepared to step up to the 'privately owned and adminned' Leagues.

This then gives a better indication of how many Leagues is 'enough' as the number of Leagues would be dictated by the regular stream of 'new players'. Rather than the current 'Survival of the Fittest' mentality.

Admiral I agree, I do think new owners should see a limit on number of teams they can own. I would suggest a group of leagues all new owners can choose a team from to try to keep a mostly even skill set amongst the owners that They can add 1 additional team after they complete a full season cycle start to finish. After the 2nd completed season, they are unlocked for as many as they wish just like everyone else. Might help develop the learning curve for new owners quicker against somewhat level competition

On another subject; I scout but never game plan, ever. Computer nerds always beat my teams as they exploit game internals. I am just not interested in algorithmic activities to play an online game. Probably my own shortcoming but whatever the case, all this game planning is something I've never ever done and still had a modicum of success with about 35 -40 titles

I don't believe this. Your teams were some of the ones that I looked at pretty closely when I first started playing.

Are you thinking of qualifier leagues? Am I reading that right?
I will continue to believe the issues and the solutions are within preventing the dilution that causes a limitation of ownership.
Qualifying leagues for "premie GMs" is a ridiculous concept in the lighting of my perspective.
More leagues?
The problem is too many!

Only so many players play, and every new league only takes from the older ones.
If the admin sucks, so does the league, and those leagues deserve to die.
The bottom line is league creation is a big chunk of revenue by token costs, and the easy fixes are not desirable for either ownership or the players.

For the angry one, glad you got riled. Yes, I do encourage you to stay in the leagues you are in, and not join ANY new leagues created IF the admins of any current leagues participated in is involved on a daily basis in such league. It would be foolish to leave a well maintained and administered league as the admin is the only "control" in the experiments that are user created leagues vying for uniqueness.
The only thing unique in private leagues is the admin - if you have a good one, **** right you should be loyal.
Feathers being ruffled means the right buttons were pushed.

If one has been in a league for an extended time, and that league is fading, does one ever consider the creator of that league may not be as dedicated as that league's GMs?

It is hard to get any group of people to favor the group over the individual desires, and more so in what is a "forever beta" type game such as MyFootballNow.
Oh, may as well encourage you to mask up, too :)

Every league one leaves for a new league is a league that dies. Remember that bottom line before one decides to toss tables in defiance of the whatever imperfect version of MFN that exists, whenever the **** in the future this post is read.
None of these arguments will change. Ever.
I find it beautiful.

Stay in the leagues that have admins busting their ***, and one will never be found wanting.
Aggravated by mechanics? Likely. :)
Grateful for dedicated GMs? You bet your bottom.
Anyone got another mic?
:P

Edit: all I use are D rules, over rides, and the r/p tab. Do you as that is what this game is. I do far less now in numbers etc than I used to, that is for sure. ...and I have had much more success to my chagrin.
We humans like to make things difficult.
Every experience is unique. ;)

FWIW: I'm always looking for new GMs for my 2 leagues. ;)

When you open the season with 8 open teams in the flagship league of the entire game, MFN-2, that speaks volumes...
It's sad

Because its a high profile league, its lead to this....

IMO, too many owners destroy teams to win now and leave after 2 or 3 years when they can not afford to field a full team.

19 needs a new owner or two to continue.
