But why the heck should anyone be in 10 + leagues? It's ridiculous. Seriously, tell me what's the point in it?
I feel the same way but i work and i run my teams differently than a lot of people. I don't trade a lot and i spend a lot of time combing free agent pools and fitting guys to their best positions. I am also still learning so watching film and correlating the results to stats/ratings takes up a lot of time.
I have always wondered how some run 60+ teams when you consider that just glancing at all the films would take 15-20 hours per day. Obviously most of these owners don't do that. Many of these 60+ team owners have teams that go 1-15 or so every year, year after year.
However, i don't see the problem with these teams losing consistently. Having 6 punters or 9 quarter backs or 11 tight ends all with ratings under 50 isn't really disrupting. There always have been badly mismanaged 'doormat' teams. The problem comes when these teams function as defacto farm teams for specific other teams in a league.
That is, one specific team gets the benefit of all the farm team's top draft picks and/or any good players the farm team drafts (usually traded for retirement age players the exploiting team was going to cut anyway).
If one team is favored by several of these 'farm teams' in a league and ends up with most of their good players and top picks then of course by amassing the resources of several teams it is going to dominate a league of teams where the other owners are using only 1 team's resources.
The farm team/ friend network system is what ruins many leagues and not a bunch of non-competitive teams as long as they are run even-handedly i. e. not favoring any specific team.
