https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/forums/thread/6/1264?page=1#7774I will take it a step further and point at how effective a balanced blitz scheme is the most effective . My defense in LG 1 was much better/ consistent while blitzes and Man defenses were called even though my defense in general is better at zone coverage .
A very similar result was seen in LG 87, but they are more suited for man but imo are better at zone. My MLB has fallen off as I drifted away from a very tight blitz oriented man defense.
The only big difference I see is how familiar they are with plays on the defensive side of the ball. I will wait eight games and see them become more familiar but slow wrs getting behind deep zones in a pass key makes no sense to me. I don't care if my defender has 44 speed or the other has 73 zone.
I see guys with sub 50 man coverage still holding wrs to sub 40 catch rates. 100 speed and being very familiar with blitzes is one guys only strong points. Also, check out mlb for Tennessee ? In lg one ....lHiggins . ...literally this guy has no skills but he is making plays at 33 speed. Sub 20 discipline gets him only one penalty in over 800 snaps. Idk, but I do know these guys blitz alot.....even though it balanced .
I made this same gripe when the overuse penalty was put in . ....possibly the game could come down to the team with the coach with the most blitzes in his book. Right now I may not be,completely accurate but I know I wasn't that far off ether , because zone has too many holes and will never favor a slower player.
It's the generic applications tied in to what happens when blitzes are called still rule defense . It's just different in the way the qb interacts. I have see 8 sacks in 500 pass attempts. Also 80 in those same amount attempts .
Unrealistic Catch overs still prevail and wide open drops are highschool like. The whole thing needs to be tightened up.
Oh yeah run blocks are broke too. If I haven't touched on that enough already
