I'm sort of the opposite so far.
I took over MFN-7 Denver in 2021 after Makntak had completed a 5-11 Season. My first Game was 2022, and I managed to mess up every way you can to go 4-12. My QB was high rating but to slow, my 1st Round TE wasn't being targeted despite heavy game planning to target him (eventually moved him and the Back Up TE to RB) and I just wasn't happy.
2023 I went 8-8 and Play Offs, 2024 I go 11-5 and Play Offs, and 2025 is just heading into the Play Offs and I'm 16-0 with a Top Defense and 2 TEs at the RB Spots. My Offense is atrocious overall, but my TE to RBs are at 4.9 and 4.7 YPC these days and power my Running Game.
So after that, I wanted to experiment a bit. I grabbed an Allocation Draft Team in MFN-73 and wanted to find out how to pass. Also wanted to put a huge emphasis on the OL with Super OL (SPD/ACC/STR/RBLK/PBLK).
I went 1-15 but traded away a lot of my Allocation Draft talent for Multiple Picks, jumped to 8-8 just missing the Play Offs as we pushed over 6,500 Passing Yards, and we've slid a bit this Season as 2 new Guards have hurt my Blocking but will eventually be studs. No Play Offs there yet, but I've learned a lot about Passing now and have most of my Offense in place, improving the Defense moving forward should make this 80% Pass Team a Contender. Also experimenting with an All Zone Defense here.
So after that... wanted to experiment with Super OL in a 100% Run Team. That's CUST-78, and I'm 1-1 so far, but it's Year 1 so everything is crazy anyways.
The main point is, just have fun. Don't look to Win right now, look to learn. If I had listened to people instead of learning somethings on my own, I'd have a Sucky TE being wasted, instead of a RB I developed into a great Power Runner. We all know Blitz Defenses are the best, but my All Zone Defense (as I improve the quality of Players on it) will teach me which Zone Plays work the best.
I'm using each League to learn some different aspect of the game, and eventually I'll be able to put that all together into a single team. I'll know the best of the Blitz, M2M and Zone Plays and can cobble them together into a cohesive Balanced Play Book. I'll know what Runs work best when Game Planned against and Keyed on (since I ONLY Run in CUST-78, so they SHOULD be Game Planning and Keying on my Best Runs... if they can STILL work with all that stacked against them, then that will be amazingly effective when Teams have other things to worry about as well).
Use each League you are in to learn an aspect, and as you learn apply it to each of your Teams.
I'm not some God or anything, but I'm doing quiet well for a 'new player'. Part of that is great advice by some really good Vets around here, and part of that is me tinkering with things to try to go against the grain and see what works that is over looked.
But most importantly, have fun. Even my 1-15 Season in MFN-73, I was having HUGE fun. I was learning about Passing Offenses, and I was Wheeling and Dealing like a mad man. Those Trades are why I could jump to 8-8, and if I get a Good Young QB to stabilize the Offense I'll be set for a Decade in that League. If not, I'll have a ton of fun trying to find what QBs I can to run the Team.
So have fun, and don't take it to hard. Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you.
