My biggest issue right now is wondering how I can get a 1 yr contract player back next season.
release now in week 2? will he be willing to resign after a few sims or will he still be unhappy/livid?
let him walk end of season? I did that in another season and players did not want to resign.
let him play now? hes a QB and not very well rated (he did well in the preseason) Will I be accused of tanking?
Does keeping him active for games as a backup help?
Should I use him as my kick holder? to show he has value to the team?
Best odds are to let his contract expires and try to sign him in early free agency. Don't cut him, you likely won't get him back in time. (I'm assuming he's at least neutral now, unless he is a high rated player he shouldn't become unhappy quickly for riding the pine)
This is frustrating because it means those players will be displayed on my roster until the draft even though they aren't
on my roster (because of a change made in the update prior to this most recent one). The work around to avoid that is to cut them before EoS but now if you do that, they are unhappy with you and won't resign.
Any chance you could make a tweak to this where a cut made with zero games left to play on their contract is the same as letting that contract expire? For instance, I was eliminated from the playoffs and have resigned all the pending FAs I want to. That leaves 14 pending FAs, about half of whom I would consider resigning during free agency for the right price. None of those 14 pending FAs are going to play any more games on their current contract, so why are they any unhappier getting cut now than if I let the contract expire 3 sims from now?
